Answer: Carl, these are very good questions. Most of us, at one time or other, have this same problem in one form or the other. Maybe not with girls and dope, but the feeling is the same regardless of the cause.
First of all.
I am sure that you are familiar with the song "Just as I Am" That is the way He accepts us, just as we are. Do you think that, if you had a broken leg, God would say "Carl you have to wait until you get rid of the crutches before I'll accept you"? Of course not, and He knew that you had some crutches when he accepted you. He'll walk with you, He'll standby you, work with you as you go through the healing and get rid of the crutches, you are His Son, Carl, He Loves You.
Secondly.
Let's say you were married and you have a small son. You would be proud of him, you would love him, wouldn't you? Sure you would. Now lets say that your at work, your wife and son are at home. Your wife is baking cookies, she is bringing them out of the oven, gosh, they smell great, your son is standing there with big eyes and just licking his lips. The phone rings, your wife says, "Now Son don't eat any of those cookies" then goes to answer the phone. She is on the phone for some time and when she comes back, she finds 6 cookies gone. WoW! She is upset and says I am going to tell your Father. And when you get home, she does tell you.
Now you have to correct him, right? Are you going to kill him? Are you going to turn your back? Are you going to throw him out of the house? Of course you wouldn't do that. You would set down and talk to him right? Well, Carl, God is talking to you right now, that is why you asked the question. Why wouldn't you do those things to him? The answer is simple, because you love him, he is your son. And Carl, God won't turn his back on you either, He loves you, You are His Son.... And he'll listen to you, so simply talk to him.
